Karl Davidov VI International Cello Competition will take place on May 3 – 7, 2010 in Kuldīga. Regulations and Programme of the competition have been worked out in collaboration with cello teachers of Latvian Academy of Music. The Patronnes of the competition all the time has been a very popular cello player and teacher of music, Professor of Cello of J.Vitola Latvian Academy of Music - Eleonora Testeļeca. The competition is organised by Ernesta Vīgnera Kuldiga Music School in cooperation with Kuldiga District Council and Liepaja Symphony Orchestra. The competition is evaluated by a competent jury. The competition has always received support of the State Culture Capital Foundation therefore it has gained significance of the national level culture event. The award foundation has been coordinated by Kuldiga District Council. Prizes are divided among the winners of three age groups. Additional prizes are awarded by the former Kuldiga inhabitants – family of Leo Maijs for the best performance of Bach’s composition and Special Award for the most interesting interpretation of Karl Davidov’s composition. The work of jury of the VI International Cello Competition will be coordinated by professor Eleonora Testeļeca. The other members of jury are well-known performers and teachers of cello music – Stefan Popov from from United Kingdom, Nataliya Shakovskaya from Moscow, Daniel Veis from Check Republic. This year there are 26 applicants from 12 music schools and seven different countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, South Korea, Kazahstan. The winners of the competition have a great chance to perform together with a professional symphony orchestra. This year the winners will perform together with Liepaja Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mārtiņš Ozoliņš. There will be 2 concerts:
